Drawing Demonstration: Shading (Miki Falls)

OK well, I thought I will try something different here and do a live drawing demonstration as I work on one of the pages, one of the final pages for Miki Falls.

This is a page from autumn the third book in the series. And I’m working on a picture of this character named Rekha. She is kind of the bad guy in the story or one of them anyway. I try not to make her into a stereo typical villain though. I give her, her own point of view, and in any case. So what I’m doing right now is adding some of the shading with just an ordinary number 2 pencil. And what happens later on is I scan this into the computer, and I do a lot of work with Photoshop to kind of give it more depth. But it all starts as you can see with traditional hand made art. The black lines that you see here are done with a colored pencil. Here I’ll show you that just ordinary color black pencil there that makes more of a permanent line. And the shading just helps kind of finish things off for me.

This is part of a series of posts, you can read the rest of it by clicking on the links for the Table of Contents at the top of this post.
