Welcome to expertsvillage.com I am Angela Sagelarson.
Hope you will visit my website, apparellinks@fairy.com. Now that your pieces are all ready to paint and you are inspired and have your design in mind you are ready to put the paint on the fabric. And you want just enough on your brush so that it does not drip but is moist enough so that it is not too dry to get a nice solid color on your fabric. And usually a fabric has a little bit of grain to it so you might have to go over it a couple of times and just be very careful with your brush strokes along the edges of your design so that you can get a nice clean edge. And if your fabric is relatively thin, you can put a piece of cardboard or a thin piece of plastic underneath it so that it will not bleed through to the other side.
But it is really okay to really saturate the piece; that will just make it that much more permanent. And you can continue to mix as it does not dry quite as quickly if you put it on a little bit thicker as you go.
And because you are using acrylic paints you just clean your brush off with water and that means if you are not using your brush or you are changing brushes you just want to keep it in water so that it will not dry out. Now this is where these outlining paints come in real handy; you can just go straight and outline the design that I painted in with the brush.
