Welcome to my 2nd video tutorial. I thought I would show you guys how I sculpt a torso. I start first of all by keeping my hands nice and clean so I take some dirty clay and roll it between my palms to pick up any dirt or lint or anything on my hands. Before I start I would like to bock up some thicker areas using some of the apoxie sculpt so that the clay is even through out. You want the clay to have a nice even thickness; I find that sometimes when it is thicker that’s when you get some cracking during the breaking process, so the apoxie helps with that a little bit.
Let us start by putting a layer of clay all around the torso; you want the mixture to be pressed down firmly so that there are no air pockets or anything like that between the layer of clay and the tin foil. On maturing it might cause some cracking or moving, so make sure you press firmly. I should mention that initially I used tin foil to bock up the body there and then pressed it firmly together so that it was nice and compact and then wrapped it with some paper-tape to keep things from getting dirty and help the clay to stick better to the body. I find that the paper tape does a pretty good job about that.
